For a year or two now, Christopher Schulz has been quietly producing one of the fresher 'zines I've come across of late. Similarities to Butt magazine aside, Pinups features just one (sometimes 2) furry bearded men posing in various states of undress. And unlike Butt, you can pull each issue apart to reveal a life size pinup of said gentleman. It's like Teen Beat all over again, only it's not Corey Hart you are posting on your wall.
Photographically sophisticated (mixed with some delicious typography) I ask myself "Is this porn?" The fact that I can ask that question is precisely why the magazine is so interesting. I want to say no - the book is far too honest to be categorized as such (tho I'm sure Sarah Palin would disagree). It is post-porn, just as the magazine considers itself post-bear. You can pick up issues for around $14 a pop at certain locales in the city and on the site. Issues are printed in limited editions of 1000 so get to it.
Do they photograph smooth guys too? When are you gonna pose?

Of course it's porn. What's wrong with porn?

I wasn't asking the question for the stance of right or wrong. More is it art? Is it porn? Is it commercial? I think it resides somewhere in the middle and is one of the aspects that make it so interesting.

I don't believe this is porn at all. These are not men who make a living by posing for your pleasure. This is art. Cocks don't make it porn. For example: Jeff Koons and ex-wife , ex-Italian parliamentarian Cicciolina: http://www.neurotypisch.nl/koons/madeinheaven.html

Is it just me or does anyone else find these mags totally sketchy?
