As the crowds breathlessly applaud for the Oscar winners on tv, I'd like to thank Joe for organizing a gosh-darn fun night out with a group of NYC bloggers. Make that gay NYC bloggers. Or perhaps I should go farther and say gay NYC bloggers with bear-like tendencies. Trust, still a big crowd.
Eric called me earlier that day and we made plans to dine out in the East Village where we enjoyed a killer bottle of Flea Market's finest Sancerre. The Blarg Hop had made its way to the Phoenix as we joined, and we continued to Dicks and then Big Lug. Phoenix is an East Village institution with a great jukebox. I wasn't quite sure what to make of Dicks, but I very much enjoyed the shopping cart staple-gunned to the wall filled with odd flourescent light fixtures. As well as meeting lots of cool bloggers whose URLs I cannot remember; trust that Eric has them all linked so soon enough. A highlight for me was getting to hang out with Glenn. I've always had a thing for math teachers, and Glenn reminded me what it felt like to be a highschool junior with a crush. Particularly when he posted this photo of the two of us (and the following one of Sheepy Eric and I).
One of the more humorous parts about hanging out with large groups of writers and documentarians is that anything can become news, and camera flashes are going off every second. At one point I was teasingly stroking Eric's quasi-beard. He smiled at first, and then pulled away in horror saying "Are you crazy, everyone will post about this and people will think we're dating!" I felt so celeb - having to watch what I did in "public." It was exhilerating. Thanks again, Joe, for organizing a great time!
